The Savage Swords of Elephantmen, The DragonKing's Daughter

So I was perusing the new comics on the rack today and saw a cover that featured characters very familiar to us all. Except...it wasn't a Sonja title. It was an issue of Elephantmen (#32) - with the caption The Savage Swords of Elephantmen, The DragonKing's Daughter

Curious. Very curious.

So I picked it up, Elephantmen not being one of my regular titles, and flipped through it. Sure enough, Elephantmen had done a Red Sonja tribute issue (the Sonja character is named "Vanya" in the story).





I haven't had a chance to read the book yet, so I'm not entirely sure what it's all about. It looks like it might be a hallucination/dream sequence for one of the regular Elephantmen characters. I'll have to read it later and blather on about it in the comments.

FRANK CHO - reinterpretation by Harry Roland.

I found this painting on the web. A talented artist named Harry Roland painted the Famous cover of Dynamite comic's RED SONJA queen of the frozen wastes number 1. With actual paint and brushes and talent this guy recaptured the CHO look and feel in one deftly done and superb painting. One good thing about blogging and sufing the web is there is no shortage of great material from which to choose.

I fell down a rabbit hole while looking for something and ended up at a web site with artwork done by an Australian artist, Conny Valentina.











She does sculpture, too.


Conny's Red Sonja is much more feminine than a lot of artists', but still looks like she could tear you a new one. Very nice.

I had a thought come to mind as I was browsing the web for some cool new pics of Sonja. I kept seeing these clever little works of art with RED washes for Sonja's hair and thought to myself..." Hey lets find a few more and post them on RSSDWAS!"

A lot of time has passed since anybody added a new post here at SONJA...maybe because we're busy people leading our busy lives. I know I've been busy. I don't really have much time just a couple of hours after work before my wife comes home and then it's quality time until it's time for bed before we have to get up and go to work and start another busy tedious day. I get home a few hours before she does as her office allows her some over time and she of course takes advantage while it is there. My job however does not offer me OT but I have the advantage of being a receiving clerk so I have a PC at work and while I'm on lunch I browse the web and find neat little pics for my blogging. I even prepped this here text at work and sent it to m'self then did the old copy and paste. I do hope you like my selections. I think the contrast is brilliant and beautiful.
